New Year Resolutions

As the year comes to a close, it’s an official SD Rock ‘n’ Roll tradition to put out a couple of questions to some of our favorites in the San Diego music scene to help us reflect on the awesomeness of 2012 and launch us into the possibilities of 2013. 4th & B’s DOORS ARE CLOSED – IS THIS IT FOR THE VENERABLE VENUE?

Since 1995, the Downtown San Diego venue 4th & B has hosted some of the finest bands to come through San Diego. As of November 26, 2012, all shows have been cancelled and the club has ceased operation. Due to various issues with its current and former owners, 4th & B has issued refunds for all upcoming shows they sold. Is there a chance of a re-open in sight?

BLACK MARKET III – SONGS THAT SHAKE THE CAGE – ALBUM REVIEW

The new release from Black Market III, Songs That Shake The Cage, features Scottie Blinn powering through an album of mostly covers with a gritty growl, creating a rough and tumble landscape for his three piece band to ride rough shod over. Usually an album of covers is enough to stop me from giving it more than a listen, but “Mad Dog” Blinn grabs these songs by the throat and chokes the truth out of them.
