Black Country Communion: A Rock and Roll Super Group Heads to San Diego

The Black Country Communion, a star studded line-up with some rock and roll heavy weights, pulls into San Diego June 9th to play the Civic Theatre. The line-up features all-stars at each of its four spots starting with lead singer Glenn Hughes’ monster pipes on lead vocals and bass. Hughes has build an illustrious resume over the years with a long run as the front man for Deep Purple. Along the way he has lent his lead vocals to Black Sabbath, Gary Moore, and countless solo projects. On drums you got Jason Bonham, son of the late, beyond great, Zeppelin drummer John Bonham. Keyboards features Derek Sherinian, a founding member of Dream Theater, and lead guitar is held down by John Bonamassa. Bonamassa has been building his legend since he first started playing at age 7. His style is steeped in the blues but has expanded into the stratosphere. His aggressive style, coupled with Hughes’ blow torch vocals, filled out by the keyboard work of Sherinian, and poured over the bottom heavy Bonham, creates a fine recipe for a true rock and roll super group.

Fresh off the release of their second record, Black Country Communion will be heading out on their first U.S. tour. The intimate setting of the Civic Theatre should make for a special evening in June. Catch a listen of them live below and go to their website for a free download of their new album.
