FEEDING THE SOUL’S HOLIDAY SPECTACULAR

Feeding The Soul, the non-profit organization that does concerts for causes, is about to drop a whole lot of love under their beneficiary’s tree this December at their Holiday Spectacular December 1st at the Star Theatre in Oceanside. Melissa Grove from Feeding The Soul took time out of her busy schedule to speak to me not only about how this event came together, but why Feeding The Soul is so committed to giving back.

COLIN CLYNE SET TO RELEASE NEW EP “DOON TAE THE WID”

Two time San Diego Music Award winner Colin Clyne is set to release his new EP “Doon Tae The Wid” November 21st. The four songs on the live EP are a nice glimpse into one of San Diego’s finest talents. Recorded live in Woodland, CA on the 2011 West Coast US Doricana tour, Clyne is joined by James Hood on guitar and backing vocals, and Steve Haney on percussion.

This month’s featured Hay House Radio show’s artist is Luc Reynaud, who discusses his amazing journey to New Orleans during hurricane Katrina. From his desire to help others during time of crisis, Luc was assigned to work at a local shelter. Through the power of music and people of every age coming together, Luc and his band The Lovingtons’ lives were irrevocably transformed.

How did all of this come together? Joshua Zimmerman from the band filled me in on a few of the details.

2012 San Diego Music Award Nominees Speak Out

San Diego’s finest music talent will be on display at The 2012 San Diego Music Awards. Taking place August 13th at Humphreys By The Bay, the gathering will honor the wide array of artists who create locally. Black Sands, Low Volts, Colin Clyne, Nena Anderson, Cuckoo Chaos, Josh Damigo and Wendy Bailey speak about their nominations.

The YES Team has been out spreading good vibrations for good causes since their inception in 2011. Originally hailing from New York City, Kinnie Dye, Jonathan Walsh, and TJ Moss trekked cross country and found the San Diego sunshine and culture more suited to their positive vibe. At first they played to passer-bys on the boardwalk of Pacific Beach and then to the local club scene. Since then, the Yes Team has been building not only accolades (they won an Emmy Award), but followers to their message. Sunday July 22nd they are at it again. This time they will be at Whole Foods Market in Encinitas, teaming with Luc and The Lovingtons in support of the Feeding The Soul Foundation.

Banding Together is a local nonprofit giving music therapy scholarships, mentorships, and instruments to kids with autism and other special needs. All of the fine work of Banding Together will be celebrated at the 2nd annual fundraiser on Wednesday, June 6th, at the Belly Up. Two of the artists, Nena Anderson and Trevor Davis of Dr. Seahorse, who will be donating their talents and performing to help raise awareness and funds, spoke to me about the power of music in their lives.
