It’s really starting to look like Blackout Party is built to last. With 2011 and 2012 San Diego music awards on their mantle, a nominee for “Best Rock” and a performance slot at this year’s awards show, plus two albums under their belt with another being recorded by year’s end, it makes sense that people are starting to notice. So much so that acclaimed music mag Filter and clothing line Dickies built a three-part series entitled “Building the Band” around what makes the band tick.

Dead Squirrels clutching beer bottles, 50 Cent, Soul Boulder smoothies, food trucks, mind blowing mushrooms and Rick Springfield are just a few sites and sounds local San Diegans experienced at this year’s SXSW. Now that everyone has fully recovered from the trip, we rounded up a few locals who made the yearly pilgrimage and asked them five questions about their March jaunt to Austin, Texas.

During the week of March 9 through March 18, 2012, the music world descended on Austin, Texas for South by Southwest. We posed 5 questions to the San Diegans who made the journey and lived to tell the tale. Bruce Springsteen’s soul has always burned for rock ‘n’ roll. Those who have seen him live over the years can attest. Personally, I have never seen a performer put more into every single chord played, every single chorus sung, or every single three to four hour show he performs. The man is music. And his appreciation for music, the history of music, and the future of music, everything about music, is part of his make-up. Bruce loves music. There is no doubt.
