The Heavy Guilt has gathered some of San Diego’s finest talent to help them push the button on the release of their new album. One of San Diego’s most ambitious and engaging bands is kicking off the launch of their third album by teaming up for a monster record release party Saturday, April 6th, at The Irenic. Bringing along a few San Diego heavyweights to round out the celebration, the lineup for the night includes Little Hurricane, Dead Feather Moon, The SteelWells and Trouble in The Wind.

When I caught The Heavy Guilt for the first time three years ago, I was blown away by the depth of their original material and the cohesiveness of their live performance. Building off the momentum of their San Diego Music Award nominated second album In The Blood and a growing live following, The Guilt have taken another step forward in their ability to craft an album chock-full of captivating material. The new album has expanded on their sound, displaying progression in both their songwriting ability and their multiple genre arrangements. I’m definitely looking forward to hearing how the new songs will play out live this Saturday.

The sample cut “Before The Fall” from the self-titled new album emphasizes a great vocal from lead singer Erik Canzona and is a strong representation of their live sound.

No doubt 2013 is going to be a busy year for them as the new record is sure to bring a packed tour schedule. Live is where this band thrives; blending rock, blues, folk, psychedelic, and more energy into each song than most bands throw into each set. Saturday night’s show is primed to be a jam-packed good time.
