The Rev. Peyton’s Big Damn Band

The Rev. Peyton’s Big Damn Band is a good time family affair. Husband Reverend J. Peyton works out the band’s stomping numbers with a unique, aggressive slide guitar style. He’s quick and proficient, hitting bass notes with his thumb while cooking up a strong delta blues melody with the other four fingers. And his vocal howlings are pure, bad-ass moonshine sung from some dirty dungeon deep inside of him.

His wife, Washboard Breezy Peyton, stands like a soldier who’s first in line and rips out hyper rhythms on her washboard. Sparks fly from her batting glove covered hands with thimbles attached to her fingertips.

The third Big Damn Band member, drummer Aaron “Cuz” Persinger, wails on a three-piece drum set that includes a flipped over five gallon plastic bucket.

Their songs are about Mom’s Fried Potatoes, Wal-mart Killing the Country Store, Pork Chop Biscuits, and the show stopper: Your Cousin’s On Cops.
If that isn’t enough to get you out of the house on a Monday night, how about that they’re one of my favorite bands and promise to deliver nothing less than raucous-y good blues/Americana/country jams that’ll start your week out right.
Rev. Peyton’s Big Damn Band plays TONIGHT 9/26 at Soda Bar. And it’s only 10 bucks! The show also includes Austin Lucas & the Bold Party and The Screamin Yeehaws. HELL YEAH!!!
